Carmageddon (Carmageddon: Carpocalypse Now on the title screen, Carmageddon GBC on the rights screen) is a top-down 2D vehicle combat game, released for the Game Boy Color handheld platform in 2001. It was developed by Aqua Pacific and published by Sales Curve interactive in Europe and Titus Interactive in North America. It is based on Carmageddon II.
Gameplay[]
There are 8 groups of levels, each containing 3 regular levels and 1 mission level. The aim of the regular levels is to complete the race, running down as many zombies as possible along the way. If time runs out, the player's car will come to a halt then explode.
Due to the limitations of the hardware, the graphics and gameplay elements were downgraded considerably: There are only 4 racers per level, limited information on the HUD, and only a handful of powerups. All levels are flat, although the player can launch into the air when hitting certain obstacles. There is no Map or Radar: Instead, an arrow points to the direction of the next objective.
Strangely, the timer is displayed in seconds and 100th seconds. The timer also runs slower than it should: Each second on-screen lasts approximately 3.5 seconds.

Characters[]
The game features 16 racers, all taken from Carmageddon II. Jenny Taylia is listed as Jetcar, most likely due to Nintendo's censorship policies (She was also renamed in Carmageddon 64).
Compatibility[]
The game was designed especially for the Game Boy Color - It will not play on earlier Game Boy models (Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket & Game Boy Light)[1].
Carmageddon GBC can also be played on the Game Boy Advance and the Game Boy Advance SP, due to their backwards compatibility support of Game Boy cartridges. The Game Boy Micro and Nintendo DS line do not support Game Boy carts.
