Carmageddon Wiki

The main menu in video-games is where most games start. This menu usually leads to game modes, options or other menus. In the Carmageddon series, the main menu does the same. From the main menu, the player may choose to load the game or start a new race, amongst other things. In Carmageddon II however, the main menu allows immediate access to a race.

This is usually the screen that greets the player when they start the game. The most common options are the ability to load a game, start a new one, enter the options screen, start a network game, or quit. Most games feature a layout in which there is a list of selections, and each one leads to another menu. Somewhere in the sub-menus is the option the player wants. In Carmageddon II, the main menu works differently, as stated above. The screen has access to the pause menu, which contains the other menus, and almost everything else is related to the main game.

The main menu is rather simple. The available options are:

Carmageddon II[]

The left portion of the screen shows the player's current car, and the ability to choose another, the player's name, credits and APO; as well as a button to start the race. The right part of the screen shows the currently selected level and group. The bottom right features a description of the selected level or mission. The top right of the screen has the network game menu.

The car and races are displayed according to the currently open game. In other words, if the auto-load option is enabled, this screen will show information about the player's current progress.
